I love to make things. Whenever I am shopping for home decor, my thought process is always, “If I can make this myself, I’m not going to buy it.” I am always on the lookout for inexpensive ways to add character to my home. When I received my review copy of Petit Collage: 25 Easy Craft and Decor Projects for a Playful Home I couldn’t wait to flip through the pages for some fresh creative inspiration. With the girls first birthday just around the corner, I have really been thinking about how I want to set up their soon-to-be playroom. This book has my mind whirling with possibilities!
After reading through this book, I was pleased to see that most of these projects are very doable and wouldn’t require too much sweat. There are projects meant for decorating, some for family life (memo boards, coat racks, etc) and some great playtime ideas (blocks, drums, memory games)! Any of these projects would be so much fun to incorporate into a child’s room. There are three levels of difficulty: easy, intermediate, and advanced and each project is clearly labeled with the level of difficulty, along with the materials and tools required, and very clear and easy to follow instructions. There are many photographs of the finished products. The photography was one of the things that initially drew my eye to this book – the low maintenance, FUN projects are what kept me coming back.
At the beginning of this book you will find some tips for how to use the book, along with some great inspiration for how to get creative and use what you have. If I can make something beautiful out of random objects lying around my house, I’m ALL in!
This book has inspired me to get creative and bring life back to some of the less exciting items in my house. I love the playful, whimsy feel of these crafts and I know they will add that perfect, personal touch to the kid spaces in our home!
