For those of you who know us well, you know that the past month has been a tough one for our family. A little over a month ago, Jared was unexpectedly released from his position at the church he’d been serving for the past year and a half.
During this season, we have been completely blessed with wonderful family and friends who have encouraged us, prayed for us, and supported us. We are so thankful for everyone who went out of their way to extend kindness and grace to our family!
I think it is part of human nature to always want to know what the future holds. But the reality is that we don’t always know. We can’t always know. It’s during those times of uncertainty that God’s faithfulness is magnified. This was definitely one of those times.
Back in September, Jared found out about a little church in east Fort Worth that was seeking a pastor. Something about the church was really intriguing to both of us. We prayed for over a month about whether or not he should submit his resume. But we felt at the time that we were where we were supposed to be until God very clearly showed us that we were not. 🙂
Jared submitted his resume and two weeks later got rejected. It’s funny because God was all over this. Jared couldn’t get Handley out of his mind. It just so happened that several of the books he was reading at the time were all talking about the same thing. They were talking about being persistent.
One evening, Jared came home and said he was going to visit Handley the next day to share with them his heart for the church. Persistence paid off. He got an interview.
Four interviews later (one including me), after lots of prayer, and a whole lot of waiting on God’s timing, this morning Jared preached in view of call at Handley Baptist Church. After the service there was a question and answer session, and then the church voted overwhelmingly to call him as their next lead pastor!
This is such an exciting time for us as a family and we can’t wait to start the next chapter of our life with the people of Handley Baptist Church!
We couldn’t have made it through this time without the support of so many of you. So thanks again for loving on us during this season of waiting!
We may not always know what lies ahead, but what we do know is that God is faithful. He’s a loving Father who provides for his children. So if you are in a season of doubt, I’d encourage you to trust God because His faithfulness is the one thing we can always count on.
